Crowe Goel & Associates officially launched

• Audit firm has roots that go back 16 years in Botswana
• Aims to impart skills into young and upcoming Batswana chartered accountants

International audit firm Crowe Global has expanded its operations to Botswana where it has been working as Goel & Associates since 2021, The Business Weekly & Review has established.

The expansion means the renowned audit and tax firm will henceforth trade as Crowe Goel & Associates. The company was officially launched last week at a glamorous event held at the Phakalane Golf Estate attended by the Who is who of the risk, audit and tax industry and other stakeholders. At the ceremony, Sanjay Goel, Managing Partner at Crowe Botswana shared his from rags to riches story starting from the time he was studying to become a chartered accountant in India to arriving in what has become his second home, Botswana, 20 years ago.

Goel said before venturing into business he did his articles at Price Waterhouse India in 1990 before he was seconded to Price Waterhouse in Botswana in same year where he later joined the National Development Bank (NDB) as Head of FAP Monitoring before being absorbed into the bank’s mainstream of lending.

Goel, who has consulted more than 150 projects since his arrival in Botswana, rendered the advice that there is no harm in starting a business. “It was an extremely difficult decision to get out of a salaried job,” he said before declaring that Crowe Botswana is here to impact lives and impart more skills and experience into young and upcoming chartered accountants engaged by the firm as trainees.

Also speaking at the event, the Board Chairman, Botswana’s former Accountant General, Pelonomi Namogang, said recognition by the international firm was coming after 16 years of Goel & Associates making strides in Botswana. “Joining hands with Crowe International means we are serious about expanding our operations,” said Namogang, who is now the Chairman of the Board of Crowe Goel & Associates. He vowed to ensure active participation of citizens in the business.
