With the June deadline for negotiations between the Government of Botswana and De Beers Group regarding the mining licences and the sales agreement fast approaching, the mining giant seems unshaken and says it believes the parties will emerge in a win-win situation.
Although either party is yet to confirm the directions of the negotiations and prefers to remain cautious, on a couple of occasions President Mokgweetsi Masisi has publicly stated that Botswana stands ready to walk out of the partnership of more than five decades if the government does not get an improved deal.
