Investigations by this publication have revealed that the Olefile Monakwe faction has challenged the decision by former union Marenga to move funds from the union’s Fnbb account to another bank whereas his legitimacy as Secretary General was recently put under the spotlight in a High Court ruling delivered by Dr. Zein Kebonang.

This publication is reliably informed that represented by Gabriel Kanjabanga, BOPEU has cited Marenga in his personal capacity.

According to reliable sources, the applicants (BOPEU) contend that there was contempt in the ruling that was issued by Justice Dr. Kebonang that excluded Marenga from the joinder application in the Standard Chartered Botswana and BOPEU case.

BOPEU legal quest led by Kanjabanga therefore seeks to have Marenga found guilty of contempt and imprisoned. The Business Weekly& Review can reveal that Marenga is represented by Monthe Marumo Attorneys and the matter went before Justice Omphemetse Motumise before it was redirected back to Judge Kebonang.

Although a date is to be set for the application, it is said that Marenga contends that the proceedings are irregular. The matter is yet to be argued.

Justice Kebonang recently excluded Marenga from the proceedings over the fight over BOPEU accounts as he said he had failed to respond to an affidavit from the other faction that questioned his employment at BOPEU.
