Lilian Scheepers, a seasoned agribusiness leader and outspoken advocate for structural reform in Botswana’s agriculture sector, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board (BAMB).
Scheepers now steps directly into the system she has long urged to reform, inheriting an institution struggling with operational inefficiencies and a deteriorating relationship with the very farmers it was created to serve.
During her tenure as CEO of the Pandamatenga Commercial Farmers Association (PCFA), Scheepers earned a reputation as a practical leader with a strong grasp of the operational realities of large-scale farming. The Pandamatenga zone remains Botswana’s most productive grain region, anchoring national cereal supply and creating thousands of seasonal jobs. Working at the intersection of policy, production, and agribusiness, Scheepers became a prominent voice in national debates on food security, import dependency, and market fairness.
