As Botswana prepares to host the much-anticipated Forbes Under 30 Summit Africa, in the capital city of Gaborone as well as in the pristine setting of Kasane, Stanbic Bank Botswana announced that it joined fellow local and international businesses sponsoring the event as a supporting sponsor.

The platform, which brings together participants for mentorship, networking and important conversations centered around sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship, is a first of its kind for Botswana and aligns to the Bank’s own passion and commitment towards championing positive progress for youth.

The Forbes Under 30 Summit Africa will be held from 24-29 April.  Themed “The African Century: Inspiration, Innovation, Exploration,” the Summit will drive critical conversations on sustainability, innovation, and global problems. It seeks to inspire entrepreneurship in Botswana and abroad and explore how the world can invest in and engage with the growing potential of entrepreneurism across the continent.

Said Stanbic Bank Botswana Acting Chief Executive, Christopher Gwere, “Stanbic Bank has a relentless pursuit towards ensuring we change the narrative for youth across Botswana, encouraging and supporting greater talent development, employability and entrepreneurship. With our ardent passion for and commitment to empowering the youth of Botswana and building further on strides already made through investments such as our Accelerate Incubator, this is a tremendous opportunity to drive progress and impact. It is our duty and our passion to help create and support platforms that allow our youth talent to be showcased, nurtured and celebrated, as we work to transform young dreams into realities in the spirit of It Can Be.”

The four-day event is hosted in partnership with the Botswana President’s Initiative and will convene Botswana business leaders, Government officials, venture capital and business role models, alongside the world’s most influential young entrepreneurs and innovators. The speaker lineup includes (but is not limited to):

  • HE the President, Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi
  • Elsa Majimbo, Comedian, Author & Social Media Sensation
  • Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Co-founder & CEO, Motsepe Foundation and CEO, African Fashion International (AFI)
  • Patrice Motsepe, Founder & Chairman, African Rainbow Minerals
  • Sjoerd (George) Bos, Founder, The Water Company
  • Amantle Mumsie Moremi, Underwriter – Commercial Lines, BIC, The BIHL Group

Notes the Summit organisers, “Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience first-hand how Botswana is harnessing the power of entrepreneurial capitalism and immerse themselves in Botswana’s culture. Over two days of programming in Botswana’s capital city, Gaborone, and Kasane, attendees will be able to experience the sounds and cuisine of local performers and chefs.”
