Standard Chartered’s eazy pula to have 150 sites by year-end

  • Partners with BotswanaPost for increased access to StanChart
  • Has begun with 16 sites with BotswanaPost towards more by year’s end
  • Has 20 more Eazy Pula Agencies with other partners

In conjunction with BotswanaPost, Standard Chartered Bank this week launched an ambious outreach project styled Eazy Pula Agent Banking that is beginning with 36 sites countrywide before spreading out to 150 locations by the end of 2023, the CEO of StanChart, Mpho Masupe, has said.

“As we unveil this Eazy Pula site today, we are launching 36 sites countrywide and will have 150 sites by the end of this year,” he said at the launch of the platform in Molepolole on Tuesday this past week.   “We are aiming to go as far as Bokspits, Tutume, Gweta and Kang, to mention a few. We are continuing to identify partners with a similar vision and who have a wide enough footprint to ensure that we fulfil our financial inclusion mandate of bringing our services to all Batswana.”

Describing Standard Chartered’s partnership with BotswanaPost as a natural fit, Masupe emphasised that both entities have a long history in developing Botswana as they continue to find ways to collaborate in service to Batswana. He spoke of Standard Chartered Bank’s financial services ecosystem as a digital ecosystem allowing clients to bank wherever they are located.  “Whether you are transacting through our digital platform or our mobile money partners such as MyZaka, Orange Money and Smega, the SC Mobile App allows you to do this,” he said.

“If all you have is a mobile phone, our cardless cash service allows you to send and receive money to any individual, whether they have a bank account or not.” The Eazy Pula service will enable members of the public to transact with Standard Chartered Bank using its various agents countrywide with the platform forming part of the bank’s continuous evaluation of its distribution model as it drives its digitisation strategy to ensure increased access for its clientele.

It has collaborated with BotswanaPost to deliver 16 sites in Phase One – namely in Bobonong, Francistown, Ghanzi, Goodhope, Jwaneng, Kanye, Kasane, Mahalapye, Molepolole, Maun, Mochudi, Moshopa, Rakops, Seronga, Serowe and Shakawe. A further 20 sites are available with other partners, including Motovac, Cellphone Warehouse, Sesigo, and Seanokeng Service Station.
