Botswana’s very own Hamzah Mahomed (8) has claimed a sensational victory at the Heritage Classic Golf Tournament, held from 8–10 April at the prestigious Royal Harare Golf Club. His commanding performance, capped with a level-par final round and a total score of 2 under par (-2), marks a major milestone in his young golfing journey.
Nicknamed “The Lion of Botswana”, Hamzah’s poise and precision on the course reflect not just talent, but relentless dedication and the strong foundation laid by Botswana’s junior golf development programmes.
This victory is yet another sign of the growing strength of Junior Golf in Botswana, thanks to the transformative work of the Delta Sports Institute and the Botswana Junior Golf League.
Next on Hamzah’s calendar is the Big 5 SA Open in South Africa, followed by the Delta Botswana Junior Championship on the 26th to 27th April — a high-stakes event that also serves as a qualifier for the World Championships in Ireland.
