Mascom CEO Dzene Makhwade-Seboni says the company’s 3-for-3 CSR initiative continues to demonstrate how employees can use their skills and talents to make a meaningful difference in communities across Botswana.

Speaking at Moeding College during the Are Bueng girl empowerment programme, Makhwade-Seboni said the initiative, now in its sixth year, was founded on the belief that every Mascom employee has something valuable to contribute beyond their day-to-day responsibilities.

“The Mascom 3-for-3 is a staff community volunteerism initiative that was born out of the idea that as individuals who are Mascom staff members, we all have skills, we all have interests and we all have a way in which we can contribute towards our communities,” she said.

According to Makhwade-Seboni, Mascom employees participated in more than 40 projects across over 20 locations this weekend, supporting communities through various initiatives aimed at inspiring positive change.

At Moeding College, the focus was on Are Bueng, a programme designed to equip Form Five girls with practical life skills as they prepare to transition into adulthood.

She said the initiative created a platform to engage young women on issues including personal branding, financial literacy, leadership development and career guidance, while also giving the girls an opportunity to share their own experiences and concerns.

“Are Bueng is really an opportunity for us to talk to our young girls who are about to finish Form Five and go out into the big world,” she said. “It is also an opportunity for us to hear from them about their thoughts, their challenges and how they are receiving the messages we are sharing with them.”

Describing the programme as fulfilling, Makhwade-Seboni thanked the speakers, the Mascom team behind the initiative and Moeding College for hosting the event.

“Are Bueng is part of Mascom 3-for-3, and ultimately Mascom 3-for-3 is about the future of Botswana,” she said. “We feel thankful to have had this wonderful day across Botswana making a difference and inspiring change.”
