Diamond beneficiation company, Stargems Botswana, has invested P13 million in its Diamond Polishing Institute to cover infrastructural updates that will allow for practical diamond polishing with natural diamonds in the Diamond Polishing Course. Additionally, full bursaries will be made available for qualifying citizens.

So far, 557 bursary recipients have completed the Rough Diamond Evaluation and Diamond Grading course, well equipped with the skills and knowledge to excel in the diamond sector.

The courses covered essential aspects of rough diamond evaluation and diamond grading, preparing learners to meet the demands of the global diamond market.

“We are incredibly proud of our 557 graduates who have shown dedication and enthusiasm throughout their training. Our mission at Stargems Diamond Polishing Institute is to empower Botswana’s citizens by providing them with world-class training and opportunities in the diamond industry,” said Stargems Director Sandeep Kolambekar.

The institution has also announced the introduction of the Diamond Polishing Theory course in the last quarter of 2024. Stargems said in a statement, “The addition is expected to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical principles behind diamond polishing, further enhancing their skills.”

Additionally, a Diamond Polishing Practicals course is set to be introduced before the end of the year.

“The introduction of the Diamond Polishing Theory and Practical courses represents our ongoing commitment to enhancing the skills of our learners and supporting the growth of Botswana’s diamond sector,” said Kolambekar.
