The Architects Association of Botswana (AAB) marks a significant milestone in 2026 as it celebrates 30 years of advancing the architectural profession and shaping the country’s-built environment. Under the theme “Echoes of Legacy,” this landmark celebration reflects on three decades of contribution to Botswana’s development, while setting the tone for future innovation within the industry.
This event celebrates the collective contribution of all industry players who have supported the growth of Botswana’s infrastructure landscape. These include architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, interior designers, construction managers, contractors, material suppliers, artisans, financial institutions, and insurers all of whom play a critical role in enabling the built environment. More than a commemoration, this milestone represents a strategic moment in Botswana’s infrastructure journey.
For 30 years, the architectural profession has operated at the intersection of vision and delivery — translating national aspirations into built form. From schools and hospitals to commercial spaces and public infrastructure, architecture has played a central role in shaping the country’s development.
As Botswana continues to invest in infrastructure as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and social progress, the role of architecture becomes increasingly vital. It ensures that development is not only delivered, but delivered with intention sustainably, efficiently, and with dignity for the communities it serves.
The Echoes of Legacy celebration will culminate in a gala dinner designed to bring together stakeholders from across the built environment ecosystem, including government representatives, parastatals, private sector leaders, and members of the public.
Speaking ahead of the event, Thandeka Palai, President of AAB, noted:
“This celebration is not only about reflecting on our journey, but about aligning the industry around a shared vision for the future. It is an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and reaffirm our collective responsibility in shaping Botswana’s built environment.”
The event serves as a platform to connect industry, government, and private sector stakeholders around a common purpose: to build with intention, collaborate with purpose, and elevate the standard of development in Botswana.
Because infrastructure is not just about construction it is about legacy, identity, and the future we are collectively building.
The gala dinner will take place on 23 April 2026 at the Game City Rooftop Marquee in Gaborone. Tickets are available at P350.00, and members of the public are encouraged to attend and be part of this milestone moment. As AAB looks ahead, the association remains committed to advancing the profession, strengthening industry collaboration, and contributing meaningfully to Botswana’s development agenda.
