BBL announced the implementation of the firm’s succession plan.  Following the acquisition of equity by seven partners with effect from 1 July 2022, Obakeng Lebotse, Tebogo Mapitse, Andre Bell, Kelebileone Malefo, Tefo Gaongalelwe, Olebile Daphney Muzila and Msiya Kindiano have joined Jeffrey Bookbinder, the founder, as equity partners.

The new partnership, comprising a majority of Batswana attorneys, emphasises the firm’s commitment to empowering Batswana under the experienced mentorship of the firm’s globally recognised senior attorneys. Jeffrey’s ambition and commitment when he founded the firm was to create a legacy legal practice. In little over a decade this has been achieved. From the commencement of BBL, each professional was told upon joining that the acquisition of equity and succession to ownership of the firm was an integral term of their employment.

“This is the start of an exciting phase, which will cement our firm at the centre of the legal activities in Botswana.  One that, as underdogs, we have worked hard to reach, fighting our way to our cherished place as a Band 1 Chambers Recommended Practice. The new partners will continue to build on this foundation and BBL will remain at the top of our field for years to come.”
