Mental health isn’t just about how people feel – it’s about what they experience, especially at work. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Around the world, organizations are launching wellness campaigns, posting supportive quotes on social media, and distributing pamphlets about stress management and mindfulness. These efforts, while well-intentioned, often miss the mark. Because the real conversation isn’t about yoga, gym memberships or fruit bowls. It’s about culture. If the culture is toxic, no wellness program will work. If the leadership is unapproachable, no motivational speaker can fix that. If people are burning out because of poor systems, no mental health workshop will bring them back to life. You can’t build mentally healthy employees inside emotionally unhealthy workplaces.
