If you are a graduate in Business, Finance, or ICT, chances are that finding a job won’t be easy. A recent study by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) reveals that these fields — among the most popular choices for young Batswana — are also producing the highest number of unemployed graduates. As Botswana’s job market tightens, thousands of newly qualified professionals are finding themselves in an ever-growing queue for work.
The analysis reveals that despite being among the most popular fields of study, these disciplines continue to produce the highest number of job seekers unable to secure employment. Graduate unemployment rose sharply, from 59,528 in 2023 to 70,512 in 2024 — an 18.5 percent increase.
