Mosha Wellness Spa recently hosted partners, stakeholders, and members of the media for an official Khwai Village Library handover ceremony focused on reflecting on the impact at the school and outlining the next phase of support for the Khwai community.
The ceremony brought together the organisations behind the initiative, namely First Capital Bank Botswana, African Bush Camps Foundation, Macmillan Botswana, Lilly White and the Embassy of Japan in Botswana represented by Mr. Kashima Kohei – First Secretary and Head of the Public Relations and Culture Section.
While the physical handover of the Khwai Primary School Library, including 2,835 books, stationery packs, backpacks, and classroom supplies, was officially completed at the school on 16 January 2026, the gathering served as a platform to acknowledge the partners who made the initiative possible and to formally communicate the continued plans for the school and community.
Thatayaone Matlapeng, Country Head of Retail Banking at First Capital Bank Botswana, whose P50,000 contribution funded the conversion of a container into the fully functional library structure, highlighted the bank’s commitment to education-focused community development.
Manie Ernst, speaking on behalf of Lilly White, reflected on the dignity that comes with access to basic school necessities and announced the next phase of their involvement through a baby essentials collection drive in partnership with Senso Baby for families in Khwai.
Koinonia Baloyi, Fundraising and Campaign Manager at African Bush Camps Foundation, shared developments following the handover, including the division of the library space to accommodate a computer lab for which the Foundation has secured computers. She also called on partners and the wider community to assist in supporting the school feeding programme, currently costing P15,000 per month or P165,000 per year, noting the visible improvement in learners’ health and wellbeing since its introduction.
Kesego Nthomiwa, Sales and Marketing Manager at Macmillan Botswana, spoke about the power of books in shaping young minds and confirmed the extension of this partnership into a teacher training programme aimed at strengthening learning outcomes in the classroom. Macmillan Botswana donated 1,434 books as well as chalk and dusters toward the library.
In her closing remarks, Mosha Wellness Spa Director, Lezanda Kubie, shared how meaningful it has been to witness the positive change already taking place at the school, including improved learner engagement, attendance, and academic performance. She thanked all partners and members of the media for supporting an initiative that goes beyond corporate social responsibility and directly impacts lives.
Looking ahead, Mosha Wellness Spa together with its partners will continue the annual book and stationery drive, support the feeding programme, launch the teacher training initiative, and invite additional corporates and individuals to partner in further developments for the Khwai community.
