A conducive environment and much-needed support of team mates and the technical team have combined to produce Kabelo Seakanyeng’s great form for his Botola 2 (First Division) side in Morocco.

“Skhebo,” as the hard working and swift player is known here at home, is currently under the books of Moroccan outfit, Olympique Club de Khouribga (OCK), which plays in the country’s First Division. He joined the team late last year alongside compatriot Tumisang Orebonye.

Since his arrival in Morocco, Skhebo has been an influential member of OCK who has featured in almost every league encounter, scoring five goals and providing four assists. “Football here is very competitive,” he said in telephonic interview from his host country in the Maghreb. “Professionalism and the facilities are of high standards. That is what makes it easier for me to enjoy football, hence my current good form.”

Seakanyeng emphasised that on top of that, he has supportive team mates and coaches and therefore no excuse for poor performance. He disclosed that his aim is to finish the season with at least 10 goals under his belt, thus helping his team’s promotion to the country’s top tier league. OCK is currently in second position of Botola 2 with 41 points from 23 games.

Only two points separate them from the top placed Salmi FC.  At the end of the season, the top two teams will get automatic promotion to the Moroccan premier league (Botola Pro) while the third-placed team will have to compete in promotional playoffs.

Meanwhile, the 27-year old speedy winger says he would like to play European football again. “Like any other player, I always aim high and want to see myself playing European football,” Skhebo said. “That is my dream and I am going to chase it until I catch it.”

Before joining OCK, Skhebo enjoyed a short stint of European football on the Mediterranean island state of Malta where he played for First Division side Lija Athletic FC between September 2019 and March 2020.
